Our commitment
Lot & Gavel, Inc. wants everyone to be able to use lotandgavel.com, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification or other assistive technology.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. These guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium, explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.
How the site is built
We build and maintain the site with these practices:
- Pages use semantic HTML, with landmarks for the header, navigation, main content and footer, so you can move around a page with a screen reader.
- A "Skip to content" link at the top of each page takes keyboard users straight to the main content.
- Every part of the site can be operated with a keyboard alone, and keyboard focus is clearly visible.
- Text and interface elements meet WCAG AA color contrast requirements or better.
- Illustrations have text alternatives.
- Form fields have labels, and error messages are announced to screen readers.
- The site respects your device's reduced-motion setting.
- Text can be resized to 200% without loss of content or function.
How we test
When pages change, we check them in three ways:
- navigating with a keyboard only;
- using the VoiceOver and NVDA screen readers; and
- running automated accessibility testing tools.
Automated tools find only some kinds of problems, so we do not rely on them alone.
Known limitations
We know about the following limitations and are telling you about them so you can plan around them:
- Downloadable PDFs. Our legal documents and our seller guide are available as PDF downloads, and these files may not be fully accessible. Our legal documents are also published as web pages on this site. If you need any document in another format, email us and we will provide it in an accessible format.
- Social media links. Our links to Instagram and TikTok lead to third-party sites. We do not control those sites and cannot fix accessibility problems on them.
If you cannot use a form
You do not have to use our forms.
- To join the waitlist, email hello@lotandgavel.com from the address you would like us to use.
- To apply as a founding seller, email sellers@lotandgavel.com and we will take your application by email.
